456 arrested for MCO-related offences

PETALING JAYA: Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said police arrested 456 individuals yesterday for breaching the ongoing recovery movement control order (RMCO).

He said 455 individuals were issued compound fines and one was remanded.

The offences included failure to wear face masks, activities which made physical distancing difficult, and failure to provide materials for contact tracing registration.

He said 2,911 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on 16,785 supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals.

Police caught 25 illegal immigrants and confiscated nine vehicles yesterday under Ops Benteng.

On mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 61,612 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to Nov 5 and were placed under quarantine.

Of the number, 384 tested positive and were sent to hospital for treatment, while 51,916 were allowed to return home.

A total of 9,312 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine, he said.
