Conditional MCO Day 1: 93 roadblocks set up in Klang Valley, says Deputy IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 93 roadblocks have been set up around the Klang Valley on the first day of the conditional movement control order (MCO).

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said in Selangor, 66 roadblocks were set up, while 27 roadblocks set up in Kuala Lumpur.

"We are also focusing on the borders of districts and states in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor.

"We have started since midnight on Wednesday (Oct 14)," he said when contacted by The Star on Wednesday.

Checks revealed that the majority of the people are complying with the conditional MCO, he added.

"The government's aim at limiting the movement of people has been achieved.

"However, we are still monitoring the situation," Acryl Sani said.

Acryl Sani said Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Rahim Jaafar has been tasked at reviewing the operations on the ground.

"We will check and improve on certain areas if the need arises.

"So far, everything is running smoothly, he added.

He also reminded the people to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially in travelling between districts.

"Our ultimate aim is to stop the spread of Covid-19.

"We hope the public will give their full cooperation in this matter," Acryl Sani said.
