PUTRAJAYA: The National Security Council will enforce the compulsory Covid-19 screening for foreign workers under Act 342 beginning Jan 1, so that action can be taken against employers that refuse to have their workers tested, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the government had enforced this on employers with foreign workers in all sectors in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Negri Sembilan and Sabah effective Dec 1.
However, he said the Human Resources Ministry reported that there were still many employers who refuse to co-operate.
“Therefore, the NSC special meeting decided for this order to be enforced under Act 342 so that legal action can be taken against errant employers, ” he said.
