PETALING JAYA: Water supply in the Klang Valley will be fully restored by 3pm on Friday, with some areas expected to have their taps running again by tomorrow afternoon, Air Selangor said today.
It said the Sungai Selangor water treatment plants (LRAs) Phase 1, 2 and 3 and the Rantau Panjang plant had fully resumed operations since 2.40am this morning, with no odour pollution detected.
“Water supply will be redistributed to some areas ahead of schedule, as the distribution system has restarted smoothly,” Air Selangor said in a statement.
“The water supply restoration process is broken into two groups, with the first group involving 599 areas set to have their water supply fully restored by 3pm tomorrow.
“The second group, involving 680 areas, will have their water supply restored by 3pm on Friday.”

Meanwhile, Air Selangor expressed disappointment over the frequent pollution incidents that have caused unscheduled water disruptions with numerous water plants forced to close.
“We fully support the efforts by the authorities to curb environmental crimes so that our rivers can be kept clean. We believe the relevant authorities have carried out their duties to resolve the matter.
“We remain committed to ensure that Air Selangor users can receive their water supply according to the schedule we have prepared,” it said.
Four people have been arrested over the latest Sungai Selangor pollution, which forced 1,139,008 households in 1,279 areas in the Klang Valley to go without water since yesterday evening.
There have been a total of six unscheduled water disruptions caused by pollution this year, with water treatment plant closures occurring on March 17, April 16, Sept 3, Oct 4, Oct 19 and Nov 10.
Meanwhile, burst pipes had also caused unscheduled water disruptions on Feb 7, May 5, June 3, June 11, July 21, Aug 6, Sept 16, Oct 14 and Oct 16.
